Riverdale Park, Meadowbrook

Riverdale Park is a park in Meadowbrook, in Logan, with a playground, BBQs, picnic areas and toilets. We've set up castles here before, so we know the park well. Here's what to know before you plan a party there.

Having a party at Riverdale Park

Shelters and tables at Riverdale Park are shared with other park users (even with a Council permit you don't get exclusive use), so get there early on weekends to claim a good spot. Council lists it as an ideal wedding location, so you may see ceremonies on Saturdays. There's an off-leash dog area, so set up a little away from it with younger kids.

Playground and facilities

Alongside the playground there is basketball, fitness equipment, a bike track, walking tracks, a fishing pontoon and waterfront access. There are public toilets, including accessible ones.

Around the park

Riverdale Park covers about 10 hectares on the banks of the Logan River, on land that was once part of the Armstrong family's grazing property. There's a floating gazebo over a small lagoon and a second, larger gazebo on the hill that suits big groups. It's also home to Logan's first parkour circuit, with a spider cage, gibbon swing and pyramid climber that older kids love.

How to get there and parking

Riverdale Park is at Evans Road, Meadowbrook (Council also lists 12 Cardwell Court for events). Allow time to find a park close to where you're setting up.

Council permit and event notice

Riverdale Park is a Logan City Council park. Logan City Council asks you to fill in its Notify us of your event form for an event in one of its parks, and to allow 21 days for it to be reviewed. If your party includes a jumping castle or any other amusement, you'll need a permit, and the equipment needs a registration certificate from Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (the Office of Fair and Safe Work Queensland). There's no charge to use the park for a private party, but a permit doesn't give you exclusive use, so you may be sharing the space with other park users. Power isn't available for event equipment, so Council allows generators as long as you manage the noise, and it can cancel permits in poor weather.
