Lobley Park, Churchill

Lobley Park is a park in Churchill, in the Ipswich area, with a playground, open grass and picnic shelters. Kids can run around while the adults set up nearby, which makes it a handy spot for a birthday party or family get-together.

Having a party at Lobley Park

There are no bookable areas listed, so shelters and tables work on a first-come, first-served basis. Arrive early on weekends to get a good spot. There is open grass for games and room to set up party equipment, though it's worth checking the ground is level before you commit to a spot.

Playground and facilities

Along with the playground, the park has pathways, drinking water and disabled access. There are public toilets.

The aeronautical playspace

Lobley Park was refurbished in 2011 and now has an accessible aeronautical-themed playspace with a control tower and an RAAF cargo plane. There are two large picnic areas on either side of the playspace, three more shelters on the Warwick Road side for smaller groups, and a footpath network linking both sides of the park. Council describes it as child party friendly. The playspace won a Parks and Leisure Australia State Award in 2011.
