Downey Park, Windsor

Downey Park is a Brisbane City Council park in Windsor, with a playground, barbecues and toilets. We've delivered party hire here before, so we know the park. Here's what to know before you plan a party there.

Having a party at Downey Park

Downey Park doesn't have one of Council's bookable park sites, so the shelters, barbecues and playground are shared and first come, first served. Get there early on weekends to claim a good spot.

About the park

It is beside Enoggera Creek, off Green Terrace and Noble Street. The Ruby Robinson Playground sits under big poinciana and gum trees, so it is very shady. There are barbecues, covered picnic tables, a half-court and accessible toilets, which are open in daylight hours. The park also has large sports fields and a bikeway.

How to get there and parking

Downey Park is at 50 Noble Street, Windsor. Allow time to find a park close to where you're setting up, and tell us the exact spot so we can plan the carry-in.

Good to know

  • Power: Council power is only available where there's an outlet, and it has to be arranged with your booking at $31.55 per outlet per day. Otherwise, add a generator to your hire.
  • Pegs and surfaces: Tell us whether the castle is going on grass or a hard surface so we can bring sandbags if needed.
  • Weather: Bring shade and plenty of water on hot days. We can't run castles in strong wind or rain.

Council permission and park bookings

Brisbane City Council needs to give permission for a party with a jumping castle in one of its parks, under the Public Land and Council Assets Local Law 2014. If you want a set area to yourselves, you can book a park site. It costs $217.55 per hour with a two-hour minimum, and sites are generally available from 8am to 7pm. Apply at least 5 working days ahead for a booking, or 10 working days if you need permission. Council aims to reply within 10 business days. Barbecues, other shelters and playgrounds can't be booked and are always shared. Council power, where there is an outlet, costs $31.55 per outlet per day. Vehicle access needs approval and a $110 key bond, and Council may ask for a security bond. Larger or higher-risk events may need $20 million public liability insurance. For questions, call Council on 07 3403 8888.
