Beth Boyd Park, Thorneside

Beth Boyd Park is a Redland City Council park in Thorneside, with 3 playgrounds and public toilets. We've delivered party hire here before, so we know the park. Here's what to know before you plan a party there.

Having a party at Beth Boyd Park

The playgrounds at Beth Boyd Park are shared with other park users, so get there early on weekends to claim a good spot.

About the park

OpenStreetMap shows 3 playgrounds and public toilets in the park, which covers about 1.8 hectares. Redland City Council doesn't publish a park facilities list, so check the park before the day.

How to get there and parking

Beth Boyd Park is at John Street, Thorneside. Allow time to find a park close to where you're setting up, and tell us the exact spot so we can plan the carry-in.

Good to know

Power: Don't count on power in the park. Ask us about adding a generator to your hire.
Pegs and surfaces: Council's conditions for commercial activity in parks say operators can't put stakes or pegs into the ground, so we secure castles with sandbags or weights.
Weather: Bring shade and plenty of water on hot days. We can't run castles in strong wind or rain.

Council permission and park bookings

Redland City Council says you need to book a park for a party with 50 or more people, or if you have entertainment run by a business, such as a jumping castle. The operator must have $20 million public liability insurance and be there the whole time, and you need to show proof of that insurance when you book. A booking doesn't give you exclusive use of the park, and barbecues and tables can't be booked. Council's rules for small children's party entertainment say a jumping castle should be no bigger than 30 square metres, at least 10 metres from playgrounds, shelters and barbecues, and outside tree drip lines. For questions, call Council on (07) 3829 8999.
