Apex Park, Deception Bay

Apex Park is a City of Moreton Bay park in Deception Bay, with a playground, barbecues and toilets. We've delivered party hire here before, so we know the park. Here's what to know before you plan a party there.

Having a party at Apex Park

Shelters, barbecues and the playground at Apex Park are shared with other park users, so get there early on weekends to claim a good spot.

About the park

It sits across the road from the Deception Bay foreshore, with tall gum trees for shade. Council lists a bookable, partly enclosed grassed event area of about 50 m by 35 m on the corner block.

Council lists these facilities: playground in a sandpit, electric barbecues, sheltered tables, toilets, water fountain, car park.

How to get there and parking

Apex Park is at 49 Captain Cook Parade, Deception Bay. Allow time to find a park close to where you're setting up, and tell us the exact spot so we can plan the carry-in.

Good to know

Power: Using Council electricity needs event approval, so most parties bring a generator. Ask us if you need one.
Pegs and surfaces: Tell us whether the castle is going on grass or a hard surface so we can bring sandbags if needed.
Weather: Bring shade and plenty of water on hot days. We can't run castles in strong wind or rain.

Council event approval

City of Moreton Bay says you need event approval for a gathering in a public park if it includes an amusement device, such as an inflatable jumping castle. You also need approval if more than 50 people will attend, you want to use Council electricity, vehicles need to drive onto the park, or you are putting up more than two marquees. Because a jumping castle counts as an amusement device, the party doesn't qualify as a small gathering or a low-risk registration. It goes through Council's Events Local Law application, so apply early. Council's events team can tell you what insurance and paperwork they need. Call (07) 3205 0555.
