5 Healthy After-Play Drinks You Can Prepare For Kids

Toddlers love to play around. With the right guidance from parents, they can achieve the recommended time to exercise daily by just engaging in games and sports. And if you are one of those parents who want to take care of the overall wellbeing of your children, you will make sure that they are getting the proper nutrition after a day of play by preparing nutritious hydration drinks.

Who would not want a glass of cold lemonade or refreshing apple juice after sweating it out? Complete your child’s day by serving them fun and healthy drinks. The good news is, you do not need to be a nutritionist or a culinary degree to create them. Here are five health after-play beverages that you can prepare for your kids:

1. Good ol’ lemonade

A glass of ice-cold lemonade is a reliable thirst-quencher for any age. If you are a health-conscious mom, however, you will know that it is loaded with sugar. Here is a lemonade version that cuts back the sugary sweetness to boost all the health benefits without compromising the taste. You will need:

• 1 cup lemon juice

• ½ cup cucumber

• 4 cups water

• 1 tablespoon powdered stevia (adjust to your taste preference)

Mix all ingredients in a pitcher and stir well to dissolve the stevia powder. Taste and adjust sweetness according to your preference. Add ice if you have to serve it immediately or let it cool in the refrigerator while the kids are playing.

2. Iced Strawberry Soy Milk

Plant-based milk is an excellent alternative to dairy, especially if your child is lactose-intolerant or allergic to cow’s milk. Combine it with fruits, and you will have a refreshing, even healthier drink. You will need:

• 1 liter soy milk

• 12 ripe strawberries, hulled and cut into quarters

• ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

• Maple syrup to taste

Blend all ingredients. Add ice and serve immediately or leave in the refrigerator to chill.

3. Coconut Chia Cooler

Enjoy the tropical burst of coconut juice with the added boost of chia seeds. Coconut water is rich in fiber, vitamin C, and other minerals. It is also an excellent hydration drink because it is made of 95% water. You will need:

• 2 cups of coconut juice

• 2 teaspoons of chia seeds

• Ice

Mix the coconut water and chia seeds. Leave for a few minutes until the chia seeds produce a jelly-like consistency. Add ice and serve.

4. Fruit-infused water

Water is the safest and most refreshing daily drink you can give your children. Make water a little more exciting by adding fruits and vegetables. They are sure to enjoy this hydrating drink after playing in a jumping castle hire Brisbane inflatable. You will need:

• 1 cup strawberries, sliced thinly

• ½ cup oranges, cut into half-moon

• ½ cup blueberries

• 1 pitcher water

Mix everything in the pitcher and leave it in the refrigerator. Prepare this fruit-infused water drink two days before or at least a night before for maximum infusion.

5. Orange Juice

Need another trusty drink that kids will love? Here’s an orange juice recipe for the family. You will need:

• 8 large oranges, peeled and frozen for one hour

• 1-inch ginger, peeled and rinsed

Get those oranges and ginger to the juicer chute. If you have frozen your oranges, you will have cold orange juice that can be served immediately. Otherwise, you can chill the drink in the refrigerator.
